“Whoever believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him.” — John 7:38
We are God’s Valentines, by Gini Kittle

This year my husband, Randy, thought of a really nice way to make me feel special for Valentine’s Day.  Instead of just buying me one nice gift on Valentine’s Day, he gave me little presents on each of the days leading up to it.  One day Randy gave me a bead for my Brighton bracelet.  Later, I received flowers and chocolates.  I won’t go over every present because it wasn't really the presents that were so special.  It was the fact that he took the time to think of all the various gifts to get me.  For days, Randy had to think about me and what I might want.  Because of that, even receiving a little something from him each day made me feel special.

As I thought about this, I couldn’t help but be reminded of how we are continually on God’s heart.  We know that in Jeremiah 29:11 God himself declares. “I know the thoughts that I think toward you …” But the Psalmist goes on to marvel and how innumerable these thoughts are.  “Your thoughts toward us; there is none to compare with You.  If I would declare and speak of them, they would be too numerous to count” (Psalm 40:5).

Not only that, God also gives us presents every day of our lives. “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness” (Lamentations 3:22–23).  Yes, every day God gives us His grace, fresh mercies, His love, fellowship, forgiveness, and the list goes on and on.  It is no wonder the Psalmist declared, “Blessed be the Lord, Who daily loads us with benefits …” (Psalm 68:19).

You and I are God’s valentines … not just one day of the year, but everyday!  Whether you realize it or not, His thoughts are ever towards you and He is showering you with blessings.  Let’s rejoice that we are loved so lavishly!
