“Whoever believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him.” — John 7:38

“I will stand at my guard post and station myself on the lookout tower. I will watch to see what He will say to me” — Habakkuk 2:1

Recently, Randy and I were praying together as we were driving to church. As we prayed, I looked into an empty field that we passed and saw a hawk standing in it. While I was wondering what a hawk was doing just standing in an empty field, he suddenly flew up, landed atop a telephone pole, and began anew his vigil over-looking the field to see any vermin that might be present so he could “deal” with them.

I believe there are many believers whom God has gifted and called as intercessors who are not currently operating fully as the can. The Lord is calling them afresh to take their place as watchmen on the walls. They are God’s birds of “pray” who stand guard on their guard posts and look both for the Lord and what He’s doing, and for the enemy (that vermin Satan) and where he would want to try to sneak in to kill, steal, and destroy. They have been appointed by God to help look over the flock and their prayers give the Church the “air cover” it needs to advance the kingdom of God on the earth.

In Isaiah 62:6-7, the Lord calls for prophetic intercessors who will be awakened watchmen, continually praying to the Lord and reminding Him of His promises.
“I have appointed watchmen on your walls; they will never be silent, day or night. There is no rest for you, who remind the Lord. Do not give Him rest until He establishes and makes you the praise of the earth.” Lord, stir up anew the gift of intercession in the hearts of Your saints. Call forth prophetic watchmen who will have spiritual eyes to see and mouths to declare what You have revealed.
