Prepared for Eternity, by Gini Kittle

My mother is nearing the end of her earthly life right now.  She is at peace and ready to go to her heavenly home where she will experience such joy being reunited with many loved ones and friends who have gone on before her.

It is an extremely bittersweet experience for me.  I know this span of life is a drop in the bucket compared with eternity. I know how glorious it will be in heaven and that we will be together again. Yet, I love my mother so deeply and will miss spending time with her: talking with her daily on the telephone, dropping by her house and discussing child-rearing or getting her advice on something I'm going through, doing the crossword puzzles with her, enjoying her sense of humor, her piano playing, her delicious oatmeal cookies … I could go on for pages about what I will miss about her.

God loves us so much.  He knows our hurts and sorrows, and He comforts us in our need.  I have been amazed at how every time I have gotten into the car this past week and turned on the Christian radio station there has been a song about heaven!  I am not exaggerating.  God is using Christian radio as one way to minister to me!  I had no idea there were so many songs on this topic.  The first day I noticed it, two songs had played — both about heaven.  It was as if God was saying to me, “Pay attention here.  I love you and am picking these songs out just for you!  Your mom is going to love it up here, and I'll take good care of her.  By the way, you have a lot to look forward to!”  So thank you God.  Thank you that You have promised,
“I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also”(John 14:2-3).
