“Call to Me, and I will answer you …” — Jeremiah 33:3

A while back, our family went on a “grand adventure” in Alaska.  It was truly a wonderful experience.  I enjoyed all the beautiful scenery we saw as we traveled and the vast array of wildlife we were able to observe.   It was also interesting to visit the various historic sites along the way and observe the new cultures and customs to which we were exposed.

But one of the things that I didn’t enjoy so much was the fact that for much of the time — in fact, most of the time — my cell phone had a new phrase tattooed on its upper left corner.  It said: No Service.  Not only was I unable to share the things I was experiencing with my friends and family.  I couldn’t even call my husband, Randy, or my son, Ben who were traveling with me.  It was a little unnerving realizing I was so isolated that I couldn’t contact them in an emergency.  I might call, but the call couldn’t go through because there was “No Service.”

As I thought about this, I rejoiced anew over the fact that my Lord is never out of reach.  No matter how remote a location I’m in or how isolated and alone I might feel the Lord is only a prayer away.  All I have to do is call out to Him and He has promised to always answer my call.
