Totally Turtles, by Gini Kittle

I took my 2-year-old grandson, Jonas, to a class at the Discovery Center called, “Totally Turtles.”  In the class, the teacher read stories about turtles, led us in a song about turtles, and had several crafts and play stations for the kids to enjoy — all about turtles.  But the highlight of the morning was Shelly the box turtle!  The teacher brought her out of the terrarium and let the kids pet her and touch her.  Then, put Shelly on the floor and the kids were mesmerized by the way she moved all around!  My grandson talked about Shelly all week long, even pretending he was Shelly crawling around his house!

Imagine now when he said to his mother, “Mama, there is a turtle in our front yard!”  My daughter thought he was imagining it.  The next day, he said the same thing, and much to Rachel’s surprise, when she looked out the window, there
was a turtle in their front yard digging a hole!  Needless to say, my grandson is thrilled to have a turtle living in his own front yard!  You may say that’s just a coincidence.  I like to think of it as God blessing a little 2-year-old just because He can.  After all, He is “… able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power” (Ephesians 3:20).
