“Whoever believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him.” — John 7:38
The Great Liberator, by Randall D. Kittle

During worship the Lord spoke to me saying, “I am the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End, the worthy One — worthy not only to open up everything sealed in heaven, but worthy to save completely all who will fully turn to Me. No weapon of the enemy can prevail against those who are found in Me. The fears of the world will not possess you, and the circumstances of life will not oppress you … if you are surrendered to Me. Come to Me, and I will break every chain and set you free, bringing you the full freedom I have paid the price to give to you!” As the Lord spoke this, I saw a vision of broken chains and shattered shackles lying across an area where the people bowed down and surrendered their lives to God.

Jesus Christ is the Great Liberator. He has paid the price to purchase our freedom! The Lord came not only that we might have eternal life, but that we could live an abundant life. Jesus said,
“I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly” (John 10:10). The Word of God tells us that Jesus came not just to save those who were lost but that which was lost at the fall. “… for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost” (Luke 19:10). All that was lost in the fall — eternal life, communion with God, righteousness before God, peace with God, and sonship authority — Jesus came to restore to us!

The salvation that Jesus has provided for us is far more than most of us realize. The Greek word for “save” used in the Bible referring to our salvation is “sozo,” which means
“to save completely.” We have not only been saved … we have been saved completely! We have been saved from sin, saved from self, and saved from the situations that seek to engulf us. The power of these triple-terrors of tyranny has been broken by the victorious resurrection power of Christ Jesus.

The Shackle Has Been Shattered
At the base of the Statue of Liberty in New York harbor is an important part of the sculpture that is often overlooked. At Lady Liberty’s feet lays a broken shackle, symbolizing the overthrow of tyranny and release for the oppressed. While this is a lovely sentiment, there is only One who can truly set free those held in the cruel chains of tyranny — Jesus Christ. Only Jesus’ overcoming power, a power He eternally purchased on the cross as the Lamb of God, is capable of breaking the strong shackles of the triple tyrants who ensnare our lives —our sin, our self, and our situation. These tyrants will never voluntarily give up their rights to keep us enslaved. But the blood of Jesus has already won the victory, and when we allow Him to apply it to our chains, they break and fall to the ground becoming mere scrap metal.

Allow the Lord to set you free from the enslavement of the situation you are in. God does not want the circumstances you find yourself in to entrap you nor define your future. He doesn’t want the cares of this world (which in these days are truly a heavy burden) to extinguish the joy of your salvation or take possession of your thoughts. The blood of Jesus is worthy to break every chain of your circumstance and bring you from oppression to abundant living. Allow the Lord to remove the shackles of self that still hobble your walking out your salvation — walking with Him in His will and His ways. The shackle of self is strong, but the blood of God has the power to set you free, that you might proclaim with Paul,
“it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God” (Galatians 2:20). And finally, allow the Lord to break the chains of sin that seek to weigh you down and trip you up. The worthy Lamb of God has paid the price not only to forgive your sins, but to break the power of sin, so you are not only forgiven, but can begin to walk in sinless victory in areas of your life you never thought possible.

Pray with me:
“Lord, I come to You and with a surrendered heart I ask You to break every chain that seeks to oppress me and bring me into the full freedom You desire to bring me into. I ask You to thwart every weapon of the enemy assigned against me, and give me the abundant freedom that can only come from You … the Great Liberator! Amen.”
